Did you know that 2.5 million households are living in fuel poverty in the UK? Fuel poverty is calculated by gauging if a household’s income would fall below the official poverty line after spending the actual amount needed to heat their home. Many are forced to choose between keeping warm, paying rent and eating enough.
This blog is written by one of our volunteers who wished to remain anonymous. Having worked in the housing sector and they have seen the need for change. In this post they discuss us a very personal story of their own experience of abuse and how the private rented sector contributed to and worsened the situation.
